I think the cup holder is still located in the front of the arm rest/storage console area. Sometimes people buy a rectangular piece to fit an audio receiver in the front center console area to keep the console neet looking instead of having a big gap in their center console. usually cupholders arent above ashtrays. The ashtray i think is probably broken or really dirty, sometimes the locking mechanism snaps, or falls out making it open all the darn time.
