Getting P0330 Code For Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Malfunction (bank 2)

I am getting a P0330 code for check engine light. this problem which is noted as "knock sensor 2 circuit malfunction (bank 2)" started about week after having a "mass air flow" sensor replaced by the Lexus dealer (car would not stay running at idle). the idle problem is solved but now have a "check engine" light coming on maybe one a month for several months now since having the idle repair done.

The car is a 1999 RX300 with 126,000mi on it (mostly highway miles). Have just replaced the fuel cap. Have added fuel injector cleaner many times now. Have purchased gas at different locations and still have the engine light come on every once and a while. since the engine light does not stay on after turning the engine off, the service shop has not been able to determine what the problem is (the code disappears). So I purchased a code reader and captured this P0330 code this last time that it happened after pulling off the road and plugging in the reader.

Here is how it usually behaves the majority of the time:

- fill the tank up, maybe after four or five tanks of fuel.

- travel about an hour using maybe a quarter of the tank of gas.

- check engine light comes on.

- then most of the time after having to stop for a traffic light or a stop sign while the engine light is on, the transmission will not shift up into high gear.

- if I pull over and shut off the engine, restart the car and travel another maybe 50-60 miles, the check engine light goes out on its own and the transmission will shift up correctly.

Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be? Could it have been caused by the dealer compromising a sensor, vacuum, or spark plug connection somewhere when working on the "Mass Air Flow" sensor before?
