LEXSMEX007 Posted February 11, 2008 Share Posted February 11, 2008 HELLO ALL, I BELIEVE MY STOCK AMP IS BLEW OUT FROM THE STOCK STEREO.... SYMPTOMS: FIRST SIGN I COULD TURN THE VOLUME NOB UP AND DOWN BUT IT DIDN'T ADJUST THE VOLUME...THE VOLUME JUST STAYED AT THE SAME LEVEL.... SECOND SIGN OUT OF THE SPEAKERS CAME THE WORST CRACKING SOUND EVER (AND NO IT WASN'T THE SOUND OF A BLOWN SPEAKER BEEN THERE DONE THAT NOT THE SOUND) THIRD SIGN NADDDDDDDDDDDA NO SOUND NADA LIGHT ALL COME ON ANTENNA GOES UP AND DOWN BUT NO SOUND?? SO THAT LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT ITS THE STOCK AMP... NOW I CALLED LEXUS AND THEY WANT $150 IN LABOR AND ANOTHER $600 YES I SAID $600 FOR THIS DAMN AMP SO YEAH i WON'T BE GOING THAT ROUTE.... QUESTIONS FOR YOU: CAN I GET OR INSTALL AN AFTER MARKET AMP? WILL IT FIT? I BELIEVE THAT THE AMP NOW LIVES SOMEWHERE BEHIND THE STEREO? HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN HELP!!!! i believe the amp is located in the trunk area, one problem is a fail safe issue. you may have a wire loose, or a speaker gone and the amp is just in fail safe and won't produce power or sound to the speakers, i'm just helping with diagnosing it, not 100% at all.also there are audio cables from your stereo to the amp and that would stop sound if not connected. buy a haynes manual at vip or somehwere or download a repair manual from this forum. the repair manual will do wonders. and the haynes will not do as much wonders.
