roadscholar Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Hello, New member, just bought an '08 ES350. Nice vehicle but has one annoyance. With the car unlocked, to get in the trunk you either have to hit another button on the key to unlock the trunk or have the key right next to the trunck to use the unlock swith by the license plate. Having the key in the cup holder doesnt seem to be close enough. Is there someway to program the key to unlock all 4 doors and the trunck with one push? thanks in advance.
Wooha317 Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I suggest you just keep the key in your pocket. In my experience I have had no reason to ever take the key fob out of my pocket unless it is to hand it to the valet. When you leave the driver's seat the car will beep and display key not detected but there are side effects tot his. The car will continue to run, you can unlock the trunk with the button next to the license plate.
AZ08LexusES Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 You can also open the trunk from inside the car by pressing a button next to where the open the gas cap door button is. This is on the left of the steering wheel toward the bottom. I do not know if all cars are equipped with this.
roadscholar Posted December 7, 2007 Author Posted December 7, 2007 I didnt know about the button next to gas door release. We just got the car and have not gone through a tank as of yet. If I was the main driver, I would keep the key in my pocket. Its my wifes car and she does not always have a pocket. I just wish the sensitivity of the key to trunk would go 10 feet from the cockpit to the tail of the car. No big deal. Thanks for the help!

I have found on my car that if I have the key in my pocket and the wife has her's inside the car I cant open the truck with with the outside button I just assumed its just a safety feature.
