They look exactly the same (including the plugs) and and seem to list for the same years. I also have the CD plaver in the glove box. Thanks... I tried several dealers and they had no idea. I replaced my display about a year ago and worked fine, now it looks like hieroglyphics. Thought for the same money I would try a different unit. Thanks. If your vehicle was not originally equipped with the EXACT part listed, it is your responsibility to consult a dealer to see if it will fit your application." That is what originally brought the question to mind... Thanks, Marty You asked which radios were interchangeable? I was in the same situation a few months back. My friend owns a 97 ES300 and I have a 98. My friends radio went out and I picked up a used radio from a salvage yard out of a 99. We checked compatibility and the 99 was the improved radio and fit both my 98 and his 97 with no problems. I would suggest that you upgrade instead of downgrading.(Use a 99 radio in a 98, a 98 in a 97. not 97 in 97 or 98 in a 99) as far as the model #, I can't tell you. All I know is that the radios fit and work. I replaced my LCD which was much cheaper and easier to replace that replacing the radio.
