Ls400 Service Question

I bought my 98 LS 400 in 2005. It had 12k original miles. At the time I purchased it, the Dealer did the 30k mile service. I am now at 42 K on the car. The only thing aside from oil changes I have done is a set of new tires. Should I now be going in for the 60K service? What is the brake expectancy in this case? and what is reasonable to pay for the 60k service? Dealer? or Toyota repair specialists? (daughter has a camry we use a local guy on that seems to do well). thanks

I don't know of a good reason you would need to do the 60K service early. The brake pads have wear sensors which will cause the display of a message in the instrument cluster when the brake pads need replacement. The front pads on my similar 2000 LS400 had to be replaced for the first time at about 85,000 miles.

The 60K service on a 98-00 is less expensive than on an earlier LS400. I don't remember what I paid but I think it was around $400 at an indie shop specializing in Lexus.

I think the spark plugs on a 98 LS are normally replaced at 90,000 miles - check your maintenance schedule in your maintenance manual to verify. Beginning with the 99 LS (I think) the recommendation is to change them at 120,000 miles.
