dssnosher
U-Joint needs to be replaced because it gives me knocking sounds to my steering wheel. I called Lexus and they said its a part of drive shaft and it costs $899 - WOW. Are these joints sold separately? Would anyone know where? I cant find anything on google TIA
LexusGS400RacerX
Honestly, I can't say that I know, or don't know. However, I do know that the drive shaft can give out at any given time under certain pressure. Such as driving too hard, too rough, or too fast. The drive shaft and the U-Joints are not sold separately, it's the entire Drive shaft. I would check with a junk yard first =]
SRK
Are you speaking of the u-joints used in the steering shaft to the rack, or the transmission to differential driveshaft u-joints? Be a little more specific, and pehaps relate who diagnosed the problem and why, and we can help.

I'm talking a bout the U-joint that is attached to the steering wheel so probably its the one shaft to the rack. Mechanic told me that my steering wheel vibration is caused by bad U-Joint. My steering wheel vibrates and makes knocking noises when i drive on rough surface. Everything in suspension is tight and new. Recently changed tie rods, ball joints and stabilizers and noone knew where did that knocking vibration on steering wheel comes from. garabaldy
I'm having the same problem on my 98 GS400, did you find a solution other than buying a new steering shaft?
