Automatic Transission Problem

ok i just got this 1992 sc300 and i paid 2500bucks for it and it has about 214,000miles

the transmission is in limp mode and starts off in thid and shifts to forth only

now i can shift the tranny manualy through L 2 then D and it drives fine

myfirst thougth is a solenoid

o and also the O/D light is flashing any thoughts.

im in the same boat as you but i dont have first gear.i bought the solenoid already but every time i take it to a tranny shop they tell me the same thing that it might not fix it and that im better off putting in another tranny.Im gonna put it in as soon as i foind out the the #1 solenoid is on the tranny.I cant find a diagram anwhere.Ive asked a million times on the other forums to no avail

i also have this problem. i have replaced the 1st and 2nd solenoid.

i know that i can disconect the battery for an hour or so and the car will runn ok and then mess up again but .....no fix yet
