LexLootha Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 I just bought a certified pre-owned 2002 Lexus ES300. I love the car...however within the first few weeks I made a list of things I found wrong with the car for service to take care of which they did and it was completely covered under the warranty. I have a 3 year warranty and I want to make sure I have them replace as much as I can before my warranty runs out. If everybody that has had a 2002 or similar model year can tell me things to look out for I would greatly appreciate it.

There was a TSB issued for that problem.
steviej Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 1. the 2002 ES had an annoying rattle/noise caused by improper fitting of the insulation in the rear doors. There is a TSB about that. They either resecure or remove the insulation. Noise gone. 2. The previously mentioned brake pad/rotor metal mismatch TSB from 2003. How many miles on the new ride? If your brakes have already been changed, then my guess is that they won't honor this TSB. 3. The infamous tranny "lag in shifting" TSB. I refer you to the 45 some odd page thread pinned at the top of this subforum. Find out the software verison you have in your car now. Consider upgrading if you exerience the original symptoms. There were two software verisons, the best of the two is the latest one from April 2005. Please read/scan the pinned thread first before asking questions. 4. If the moonroof is noisy in that it creaks when you go over small bumps, have the gasket replaced. There was a TSB on that too. Here is the www.alldata.com list of TSBs: (I have put the ones mentioned in bold) Automotive Recall and Technical Service Bulletin Titles for 2002 Lexus ES 300 V6-3.0L (1MZ-FE).
