0mar0mar Posted July 5, 2007 Share Posted July 5, 2007 Hey i have a '94 Lexus ES300 with 190k miles. When I step on the brakes, it feels stiff. The rear brake lights don't turn on either. This means I can't shift out of park I heard it has something to do with the fuse box or something? Or maybe because I have the 'check engine' light on, telling me to change the O2 sensors. Black03ES300 Posted July 8, 2007 Share Posted July 8, 2007 I had the same problem in an older car, turns out that both brake light burnt out within a couple days of each other. Couldn't shift out of park because the solonoid is wired in series with the brake light bulbs, when the bulbs burn out they "open" the circuit. Also, check the switch.
