92-93 Tranny Park To Neutral

basically my cousins car when he shifts the car from park to neutral and back the rpm's shoot up 500 rpms

this is not by leaving it in reverse but quickly just moving the lever

so the tranny doesn't even have the chance to engage a gear

if it wa in gear i could understand the rpm s going up as the tranny is being uncoupled from the wheels but it has no time to even engage

just seemed weird

anyone else have this problem

as the car shifts normally otherwise when driving
