LexusinMiss'ssippi
Wife calls. Says the battery is dead. I go home, go to put in N to push out of garage, and can't get it out of P. Tried it with brake pressed and not. Nothing. What am I missing here???
lenore
When the battery is dead, the shift lock solenoid wont work, look in your owners book, there is a little black square plastic piece down on the shifter, you need to take a really small screwdriver (flat blade) and lift that plastic piece, then insert your ignition key or screwdriver to unlock the shifter and move it back into whatever position you want. Get a new battery and it will work fine.

Grumpa72
And I bet that info is in the owner's manual. ;) The only reason I know of this in my '05 330 is that there is a similar doohickey in my 14 year old Acura, only it is wide enough to use your ignition key.
