valholm300
Hi. I'm a new member and I was hoping someone in your group could help me. A while back, I received a letter saying my RX300 was under recall for a possible oil gel/sludge problem. I am now in negotiations with a dealership to have the engine replaced but they are telling me that I still have to pay for certain things like spark plugs, belts, timing belt, thermosat, etc. which I can understand because these are maintenance items. What I don't understand is that they indicated I have an oil leak in the "rear" (crank shaft) that would not be covered by the recall and so I will have to pay for that also. Now my question to all of you is, isn't that a part of the engine? Shouldn't that come with the parts that Headquarters would send them? The Shop Foreman is trying to tell me that the oil leak is not caused by the oil gel problem but isn't one of the symptoms of oil gel buildup excessive oil consumption? I went to the NHTSA page, but they no longer have the oil gel recall posted. Can anyone direct me to where it may be archived or can you send me details about it? And why did it just disappear?
