bobcat229
I have a 2004 GX 470. I've seen some info on the net about overriding the Nav so that it can be used while driving. The instrutions mention going to the menu screen and the volume screen and toching the "soft" button. On my volume screen it just has the numbers. Anyone know if it is possible to override the Nav on this model? Thanks.

LadyLexs
I found this override on this site, and it worked for me on my 04 GX. The only thing is you have to do it each time you restart the truck, but it can be done at anytime. Start the truck Hit I agree Press Menu Hit DVD at the top Press the lower left side of the screen (nothing will be there) Press the upper left side of the screen (again nothing will be there) Press the lower left again Press the upper left again Press the lower left one more time Press the lower right If done correctly a new screen should pop up Press and hold override for about 5 seconds until it beeps Hit the back button and you should be good to go. I havent touched any of the other buttons in the override screen for fear of breaking something. So give it a try!
kringeis
On my '05 GX, the process was; key to acc menu button then press volume then do this three times; Press top right (under speaker) then press lower left (nothing there) You will then get the diagnostic window. Touch and hold override until it beeps. Then press back.

I also have the 2004 Nav system here is the trick. turn the vehicle on and enter accept go to menu on the top right of the screen touch DVD, you will see the DVD NAV Disk info screen, you now touch the screen in the following sequence (just normally (not too slow but not fast, JUST NORMALLY) Top Left Corner Bottom Left Corner Top Left Corner Bottom Left Corner Bottom Right then press and hold you finger on "override" until it UN-highlights, then select back and use as usual . THIS WILL RESET AFTER VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. (There are no buttons in the corners, you just touch in the corner.)

Digger Dave
Well I tried all the various steps listed here on my 2006 GX and am no further along than before. Is there a different process involved for the 2006? Thanks in advance!

You'll have to do this before you start driving, still in the volume screen, press on the upper left of the screen and then the bottom left of the screen. I know that there isn't anything there, but that how I've done it in my 04 Toyota Solara and 04 RX 350. If it works, a new screen will pop up and thats where the "override" button is located. You then click on that override button until it is highlighted or when you here a beep. then your all set. Give that a try.
