thegarty Posted April 29, 2007 Share Posted April 29, 2007 My 92 SC400 with 185k miles seems to have a harness that is seriously compromised. Whenever I use the turn signals or the brake lights, the electrical system experiences a problem where the battery is severely discharged. Accompanying this is a smell of insulation burning. The problem has now shown up when I open/close the sunroof. I am surprised that the excess current that is being drawn is not tripping a fuse. Anybody got any ideas? What does a new harness cost? menappi Posted April 30, 2007 Share Posted April 30, 2007 sounds like wires are shorting out, maybe use the lights for a while and find where the smell is coming from...sorry if I'm not much help. electrical problems are the worst. I would look up in a service manual wiring diagram and chances are all those features you listed are wired up together and maybe that will give you an idea of where to start.
