I have a question about the shiffting pattern on my 1992 lexus es 300.. Sometimes when the gears are changing , they feel like the slip into the next gear , or like its a slow shift into the next gear ..hard to descibe. But is this normal for the trans to shift like this ? I dont remeber if my previous lexus shiftted like that..The screen and fluids are new and upto date. Mounts are new .

The car has 153,000 miles

153,000 miles...

Your torque converter is likely a tad loosy-goosy, especially starting out cold.

Feels sorta like a slipping clutch until it "winds-up" to maximum slip.

There isn't really a fix for it, besides replacing the converter itself. Just do the regular fluid changes on a timely matter and drive it until it gives.
