STALLROMA Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 JUST PURCHASED 92 SC 400. A/C WAS BEYOND COLD-I MEAN FRIGID FOR ABOUT 10-DAYS. ALL OF A SUDDEN, HOT AIR. SEEMS LIKE THE COMPRESSOR IS KICKING ON. I DID NOTICE COOLANT IS AT VERY VERY TOP OF RESERVOIR WHEN I SHUT ENGINE. WHEN I START CAR THE COOLANT FROM THE RESERVOIR IS NORMAL(NOT SURE WHAT THAT MEANS) CAN ANYBODY HELP? ALSO CAR HAS 59,000 MILES ON IT. LOOKS LIKE THEY CHANGED THE A/C SYSTEM IN OCTOBER 2006 ACCORDING TO A STICKER AND SOME MARKINGS UNDER THE HOOD!
BenjiNtheES300 Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Could it possible be that the line(s) is clogged? or maybe when they replaced it they didnt wire it correctly or forgot something..

92Lex Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Are you positive that the compressor clutch is kicking on? Have you seen the clutch engage? What A/C sticker is under the hood? r-12 to r-134a conversion?

92Lex Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 When the clutch is energized it locks onto the compressor and the serpentine belt spins the compressor. When the A/C is off the clutch just freewheels on the pulley. You should be able to see a plate on the A/C compressor engage with the pulley and spin, when the A/C button is switched on.
