natedog300 Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 I was wondering if someone could tell me the proper ft-lbs of torque for the two front caliper bolts that mount the 4-piston calipers for a 97' LS400. -Nathan-
dfkd Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 LS400 FRONT Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section. Remove the front wheels. Disconnect the brake line at the caliper. Remove the 2 bolts to the holding the caliper to the steering knuckle and remove the caliper assembly. To install: Install the caliper. Install the 2 bolts and torque to 87 ft. lbs. (118 Nm). Connect the brake line with 2 new gaskets and tighten the union to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm). Refill the reservoir as necessary and bleed the brake system.
bossman Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I can confirm that dfkd is right on the money! According to the 1997 Lexus LS400 Repair Manual (page BR-16), the correct tourque for the two bolts of the front brake caliper is 87 ft-lbf.
