ihateduke Posted November 21, 2006 Share Posted November 21, 2006 Periodically, when I'm driving with the windows up and A/C or Heater on, I smell a strong odor of gas. It seems to always happen when the car lurches, such as when I'm stopped and then press on the gas pedal to go. Or, when it shifts gears. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does have me worried. Over the summer I changed my spark plugs and cleaned the IAC and other parts related to fuel efficiency. I'm wondering if something in there is loose and/or leaking. Anyone else experienced this? RXEemrald Posted December 7, 2006 Share Posted December 7, 2006 I recently had a friend tell me they were smelling gas and that the mechanics didn't notice it. Once it was finally diagnosed it was something to do with a seal at the gas tank that was allowing the fumes inside the car. Not sure if that helps at all.
