svarog Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Hello I am thinking of changing my spark plugs and I am assuming I need to take this cover off, but I can't, none of my tools fit in there. I don't want to just rip it off either. Here is picture. And another question, is it bad to mix spark plugs? Can I just replace front 3 and do others in a month? Thanks in advance.
Toysrme Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Allen wrench. Go buy a set of metric ones. You can do plugs however you want. You're engine man. ;)
svarog Posted August 26, 2006 Author Posted August 26, 2006 That was my first guess and first things i've tried. They must be stripped then! :( Any tips on what to do? I tried jamming bigger sized ones in there just now and still no go.
svarog Posted August 26, 2006 Author Posted August 26, 2006 I got it off!! Feel stupid! I was putting it inside the little hole, but I got to use the big one. Thanks for help!
Toysrme Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Try and SAE set for an in-between size, along with some spray penitrating oil to loosen it up. I've had one dead on something else before (Not an engine, with a plastic cover tho). I got it off by taking a bigger allen wrench & beating it to fit with a hammer. Same way you would a nut, or bolt. Tool steel is tough. May break a tool eventually, but they have warr.'s for a reason. :) Anyone else know how to get a stripped allen nut out? *edit* Nevermind.
