RSantos Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 I have brought my car for maintenance and claimed hesitations in my transmision. They test drove it and did not find any problems. I usually feel like I have to heavily gun my accelerator down after shifting and it feels like the engine gets a little agitated when stepping on the accelerator. This happens mostly on my first and second gear. Is it also normal that the first gear's response is shorter than most cars? I feel the agitation on the first gear when it reaches 5000 rpm and feel the need of shifting to second gear instantly when it reaches such rpm. I might be paranoid but I'd like to make sure whether or not it's problem or not. Thank you for you help....
bartkat Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 If you have E shift the problem shifting from 1 to 2 is partly because 2 is a 1st gear overdrive. It's a kind of slushy slow shift. 2001 and ealy 2002 vehicles had a service bulletin on this and dealers were able to make some improvement. Mine had the upgrade and it only gives me the slow shift at wide open throttle. The problem seems to be electronic. Check the topic "ECU Flash" on the link here. http://www.is300forum.com/fix/index.html Here's a site where you can find IS300 service bulletins. Just change the car to your year and model. http://www.alldata.com/TSB/31/02310815.html
