knmaynard
How is it performing, and how does it sound? Don't you have the SRT also? I'm itching to get the headers now that my SRT intake is done. My brother-in-law has a LS1 he can get the front wheels up on, all from NA, just by improving the air flow. He said ne never saw the benefit of a Turbo or SC, given what he can do without them. Of course, he has all new exhaust, new intake, and has just had the head flowed, with a PI Torque Converter. No NOS, either, and it's stupid fast. We can't do all that to the GS since it's not quite as easy to mod as the Camaro, but I'd still like to open up my exhaust from headers back and see what happens. new big400
Yes.And let me say Im glad theyre done because they are a pain.Sounds about the same at idle and at WOT it has a slighty tougher note.(Very slight hardly noticable)As far as performance its hard telling since I did a PI TC,valve body, and 3:76 lsd at the same time. Now if I can just find time to install my 125hp zex kit!!!Let me know if I can be of help. knmaynard
Yeah, I still don't know if I'll do it or pay a Lexus tech I know to do it. So what is it like after doing all 4 mods? Would you recommend it, having done it? Do you notice a material change? I'm considering all the same changes, but unsure about the lsd. I don't want to drive around at a higher rpm, to the point that it's annoying. I drive daily to work on expressway, 70mph average. What's your feedback on that point? (Is it different in highest gear, do you notice a difference driving around, etc) Similar question on the TC. I'm trying to get a straight answer from PI and Rod Millen as to the differences on thier TC's. RM says PI makes theirs, but claims to not know about the Dragon, and states that they have PI manufacture their specifically designed TC. PI says that all they do is distribute what they make, and wouldn't say if they made one specially for RM. A little confusing. Oh yeah: from the headers back, what does your exhaust look like, exactly? Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
knmaynard
I don't see the Lexus application on the Zex website. Are just going to make it work, or was that just wishful thinking? Oh yeah: what valve body did you use?

Are just going to make it work, or was that just wishful thinking? Oh yeah: what valve body did you use? To sum it up shes a beast.I love all mods and highly reccomend the lsd.The revs are a little hegher maybe 500 and its just enough that when running down the highway you can pick up a few mph w/o having to kick down a gear. Not sure the difference between the TC's I havent heard anything but good about them both.I have the PI.And forget Rod Millen those guys are a joke and theyre service sucks. As far as the rest of my exhaust I have Borlas and have deleted the resonator. The resonator removal is pretty much worthless unless you can get it done very cheap. The resonator is straight through. Before installing the nos im going to run 2.5 in. duals with an X pipe.Probably a little on the big size but with the amount of nos im going to run it isnt going to hurt.On the valve body I have the SRT rebuild it might be a bit much for some because it really shifts hard between 2-3.I love it its an extremely fast shift no hesitation at all but when it shifts it shifts. Its not as bad when youre in the throttle but when youre puttin through a lot and it shifts it slams hard enough that if people are walking near the car theyll look.If im running hard in a turn and it shifts into 3rd it will break the tires loose.Thats really getting into it on a ramp.If youre going to leave off one mod Id reccomend this one unless you go FI or nos.I love mine though and wont be changing it back.If you dont mind a little sacrifice in the name of performance then go for it.And lastly the nos is a 125hp wet system with 2 polished bottles, remote bottle openers, warmers, purge kit, pretty much the works.I still need a high flow fuel pump. Not in too big of a hurry though I wont be putting it on for another month or so Im enjoying driving her after so much down time. And I still need to get used to these other mods shes a completly different animal.Well get to it and let me know how it goes
knmaynard
Perfect, thanks for the info. I'll probably move to the headers, exhaust, tc and LSD next, and wait on the valve body. I do appreciate the input, it helped me make my decisions. Good luck with the car, let us know if any issues come up with any of the new components. dbgs400
New Big 400 Which LSD did you use and how much trbl was it to install. I'm looking at the NOS wet system for mine also too just need to get off the fence and try and get it in the car but am looking into aux systems to monitor exhaust gases and shut down in lean conditions if encountered.. I used the TRD lsd and highly recommend it.I couldnt be happier.I had it and 3;73 gears installed at a tranny shop and it cost $190.If youre going to do the lsd you might consider gears. On your NOS zex makes a pretty safe system that has a lean sensor built in. dbgs400
I've seen the LSD thru TRD where'd you get the lower gears from, the 3.73 would improve over what I think the stock was around 3.26 since I went to 18's with 275/35 in the rear.. Thanx

Thanx The stock gears are 3;23.I bought the gears from a 93-97 supra since they share the same differential there are a few different ratios though so you will have to be careful which ones you get.Ill check tonight and post on which you will need.I bought the gears from toyota at cost and they were $550.Also on the install the $190 was for labor only you will need another 400-500 in bearings and seals.
