Gps Radar Detector Not Connecting To Satelite

My radar detector connects with the GPS satelites to generate current speed, approx. how much time it will take to travel to a selected destination, so forth. Everything was working fine and I've had it for a couple years now and just recently it will not connect to a satelite, display reads that it is trying to connect but it never does. Does this sound like most likely the radar detector having a problem that is preventing it from connecting and not the GPS Satelites? Thanks for any input.

It sounds like problem with the unit itself.

After about a week I was pretty sure the gps feature was dead. It wasn't working at all, but for some reason on a 3 hour trip I decided to turn it on to see if at any point it would connect and sure enough it connected after the first hour of driving and I haven't had any problems since. Kind of unusual for it not to work for over a week and then begin to work like nothing happened.
