Eat Road Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 I am planning on getting some 18inch Volk GT-U rims. 9 wide in the front and 10 in the back. (They do not come in half inch sizes.) I'll get Falken FK-452 tires. They have the sizes and comfort I want. The sizes I want are slightly unorthodox and I was wondering if anyone thought I might have ANY rubbing issues. Front: 245-45-18 Rear:275-40-18. The car is stock and will not be lowered. To maintain the same diameter I would have to get 245-40-18 and 275-35-18 respectively. The larger 245-45 and 275-40 will have and increased diameter of 24MM or an increased radius of 12mm. 12mm is a little under half an inch. Would this be a problem? The car will not be lowered. Will there be rubbing? I am opting for the larger tires so that the ride is smoother. To accomplish this, would I be better off puting the front tires on 8 inch wide rims instead? I dont care about the speedometer difference, I just dont want to give up to much of the comfort as this will be a comuter car. Thanks for any help
Eat Road Posted May 23, 2006 Author Posted May 23, 2006 The following link is very helpful when trying to determine what size tires will fit. It does not specifically answer my question of the unorthodox tire size, but it seems reasonable to deduce that the added 12mm to the radius would be equivolent of lowering your car by half an inch. At least as far as the wheel fitment goes. I hope this is not overlooking something obvious. Thanks SKperformance. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158592
