monarch
The owners manual specifies a valve clearance inspection every 60,000 miles

If you are going to inspect the valve you would be stupid to NOT adjust them. Sometimes using a different oil filter will help. Sometimes a diff oil. Sometimes it might need a vlave job; depends on miles/age etc.
Toysrme
Trace the exact location with your ear. That will tell you. http://lextreme.com/v6/viewtopic.php?t=16&...f5ea044967f37c2 Go watch that video. If yours makes a ticking sound like that, then you need to check the lifter buckets for slap & the valve clearance.
