I have a 1997 es and since last week, if i punch it it feels as thought the trany stays stuck in second gear.. like if i am at a light the engine is reving at a higher rpm and the car wants to move forward...if i let the brake go it will slam in to the car ahead. it only seems to happend when i accelrate fast then it just stays i dont even have to keep ma foot on the gas on the highway sometiem it just crusies for a while at 50-60. i have been noticeing it jerk the last cpuple weeks..what do u think my problem iss?
lexusk8 Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Check the color of your tranny fluid. If it's anywhere near grey or black, the fluid has to be replaced. I recommend a simple drain and fill procedure for this one (which should cost around $100 from the dealership), but if you can't remember the last time the tranny fluid was replaced, you might want to do a complete tranny fluid flush.
Toysrme Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 After you do the fluid, check / adjust the kick-down cable. If it's loose, when you step on the gas you'll twittle your thumbs for it to shift. Then it'll make a big plump shift when it finally shifts.
