dangrace Posted August 3, 2003 Share Posted August 3, 2003 I have the same problem, a whining noise when the trans downshifts before stopping. I also have some kind of whistling noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. I am not sure what the problem could be. The RX goes in for service in a few days. laurenalexis Posted August 3, 2003 Share Posted August 3, 2003 Does the whining occur at about 1200 rpms with the a/c on? I've found that when the a/c is off the whining stops. I took it to the dealer for the 1,000 mile check, I was told that it's the condensor fan and that they expect to do a recall on this issue in the future. sea_los Posted August 22, 2003 Share Posted August 22, 2003 WOW... misery enjoys company! :) My RX-330 had the SAME noise and Longo Lexus replaced the a/c compressor and the a/c clutch. I got the car back yesterday and today after going to San Diego and coming back in bumper to bumper traffic in LA, I noticed that the friggin' noise was STILL there. Granted it isn't as loud. Longo will be getting a call back tomorrow about this. Kind of worries me that their "fix" didn't really do much.
