Joe C Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 (edited) Hey everybody, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name's Joe, and I am the owner of a silver '98 GS300. It has around 82k on the odometer, and I'm the now third owner. It was owned by my mother before me, and she had the car since 99 with about 15k on the odometer. She went to a navigator, and I needed a good reliable daily driver. The paint is a little rough, but the interior is near mint, and the car runs amazing. I get so many compliments on how smooth the ride is, and I couldn't agree more. My other car is a '98 Neon R/T (mild build, nitrous, etc.) and I honestly didn't want to be driving it all the time - attracts too much of the wrong kind of attention. Anyways, I don't have a lot of plans for the car, as I want to keep it relatively stock, but I am putting in 2 10" MB Quart PWE10's, possibly a ZAPCO amp to power it, and down the line I'm thinking about a nice Eclipse double DIN Navigation Headunit along with a replacement 6-disk CD Player. I do have a couple quick questions though: -Any suggestions on companies to go with for asthetics? (Clear corners, HID's?) I see that polished grille mod and I will definitely be doing this when I get some free time. -Has anyone seen the GS300 wheels polished on a silver car? I was also thinking about black w/ polished lip... -Does anyone know the bulb type that lights up the High Bean (inside) lense? I didn't realize there was two bulbs inside of there until one went out I will be searching those questions, but I didn't know what others thought. I will also be posting up some pictures of the car tommorow after I give it a bath... It's messy from this MA weather. Thanks for reading! Edited January 6, 2006 by Joe C

KANEDL Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Welcome to the club. As far as your mods, almost all clear corner lights are made by the same company out in China. So you're most likely going to pay a different price for the same product. For HID's most people recommend Philips. I used a McCulloch on mine and even though people on here don't recommend them I've had mine trouble free for 3 months and it was a plug and play system that anyone can install themselves. I'm not sure if you're referring to actual high beam bulb that also runs as the DRL but that's a 9005 bulb if I'm not mistaken and the other bulb inside the housing is the parking light. The parking light bulb is interchangeable with different bulb numbers you just have to make sure it's a wedge base bulb. I believe the bulb #'s are: 158, 168, 147 152 158 159 161 168 184 192 193 901 904 912 916 917 918 920 921 922 923 926 927 and probably more. You can find that bulb all over ebay just look at the base. I'm also planning on going with an Eclipse navigation system. I'm planning to put two 10" Audiobahn subs powered by an Audiobahn amp and some Polk Audio speakers. You should definitely do the grille mod it makes a world of a difference. I noticed the other day at my job while I was on the second floor how nice it really looked when the sun hit it. And it only cost $1 and 3hrs of my time. If you have any questions, make sure you come here and post, you get a lot of help. Well good luck and again welcome to the club.

Joe C Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 Nice Waggoneer. Yours, too? Nope, that's my fathers pride and joy. It's lightly modded too: -650cfm 4-bbl Carburator -Edelbrock RPM manifold -Heddman Headers -Flowmaster mufflers -2.5" exhaust. Sounds great, runs awesome, and it can pull a house :D Thanks for the bulb info, I really appreciate it! Does anyone know of dash kits that I could look into for a double DIN such as the Eclipse, or should I fiberglass something? I want to retain the stock look, but wasn't sure if there were any available. Thanks again!
Neo Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Welcome to LOC. -Any suggestions on companies to go with for asthetics? (Clear corners, HID's?) I see that polished grille mod and I will definitely be doing this when I get some free time. There are 2 designs. Quality is so so. As stated above, they are all sourced from China so just pick some up from eBay. They usually goes for $15-$20. -Has anyone seen the GS300 wheels polished on a silver car? I was also thinking about black w/ polished lip... Are you talking about the OEM wheel when you are talking about polished? Otherwise, design also affects the look so post up some styles you like and I am sure you will get some free opinions. -Does anyone know the bulb type that lights up the High Bean (inside) lense? I didn't realize there was two bulbs inside of there until one went out Covered above. :)
Joe C Posted January 11, 2006 Author Posted January 11, 2006 Yes, I was asking about the stock GS300 wheels... I'm afraid it'll look too *showy* or just clash with the paint.
