Oem Xm Vs Xm And Soundlinq Vs Ipod And Soundlinq

Recommended Posts

Hope everyone had a safe and happy New Years. I have an 06 GS300 and during the hustle and bustle of buying the vehicle we overlooked it did not have the XM receiver.

We got the fully loaded Mark Levinson, etc. However, no XM.

I have received two quotes from Lexus for the XM head unit.

One was $495 and one was $895. Neither technician really sounded knowledgeable. One told me there would be a control unit mounted, etc.

I don't want a seperate control unit, I want to be able to use the on-wheel controls. So here's my thoughts:

1. Drive down to Lexus and find out what's the true price/scoop on the XM unit. (If anyone knows, do let me know please).

2. Go with the dealer installed XM

3. Go with the SoundLinQ adapter and use an XM head unit.

4. Go with the SoundLinQ adapter and use an iPod.

I don't have either the XM head unit or iPod right now, so all the options are a new investment financially.

It looks like 3 and 4 will cost about $500 plus install fees.

Thoughts, ideas, etc.

I don't want to use an FM modulator.

Anyone have the SoundLinQ installed and can give feedback??

Jason
