hindibuff
Hi, I have a 99 ES300. I love the car but I would like to see if there is a way to have the doors automatically lock when the car is either put in Drive or starts at about 5 MPH. I know almost all American cars do that and wondering if there is a mod that could be put in. Thanks
lexusk8
I have always wondered the same thing ever since I got my '01 ES a couple years ago. I believe this has something to do with the 'C-BEST' settings implemented in most modern cars (even the PT Cruiser has that), and it seems like the '97-'01 ES does not have that feature. This is probably why we don't have that auto-lock feature.
ktmrider
I'm gonna bump this up. Found a few threads asking this question but no real consensus. Can the 3rd gen ES300 be done at home or by dealer only?!?
outfromunder03
In the 03 ES300, the process is in the owners manual. I think you turn the key to 'on', then within 10 seconds, you need to push and hold the lock button down on the driver's door. When you let go of the lock button, the locks in the car should cycle. I don't know if that will work for the older cars or not though.
ktmrider
^^ Sadly enough it does not appear to work on the 3rd gen and older models. Hoping some knows for sure whether the 97-01 models can be done at home, I scoured the owners manual and found nothing.
outfromunder03
I just re-read what I posted, and realized that I should've said to hold the lock button down for 5 seconds. I don't know if that will change anything or not.
