I just re-read what I posted, and realized that I should've said to hold the lock button down for 5 seconds. I don't know if that will change anything or not.

My girlfriend just got an 03 ES300 from her grandmother this week. As I was flipping through the manual, I noticed that you can set the car to beep twice when you hit the remote lock button. Apparently, someone disabled this feature in this car, and she'd like it to do that. The owner's manual says that you need to talk to your Lexus dealer to adjust this feature, but I was hoping I might be able to find the answer here. Right now the lights flash, but there is no beeping. And I did check the volume knob under the dash, and it is turned on. Any help would be great.

In the 03 ES300, the process is in the owners manual. I think you turn the key to 'on', then within 10 seconds, you need to push and hold the lock button down on the driver's door. When you let go of the lock button, the locks in the car should cycle. I don't know if that will work for the older cars or not though.
