Stock Antenna , Aftermarket Stereo

Recommended Posts

Newby to forum , and proud owner of a 1995 SC300.. I recently installed an Alpine stereo (done myself {wooHoo !}) but i can't get the stock antenna to work with the head unit.. Could not find any any discussions on this.. I even bought a Fuba (like the ones on VW's) antenna and installed on the roof but the reception is poor.. Any help would be appreciated....

You may want to try the car audio forum. I think most people just leave the antenna inactive. You can still use the antenna as a reception piece but getting it to come up and down is a little more tricky. If you just want the antenna to come up for when the car or radio is turned on then use the power lead for the head unit or another 12v source off an always on accessory. To go up and down for radio use will require more talent.

From what I've been hearing, the Fuba won't do anything. It's like a showpiece--not functional at all. I'm surprised to hear that the connection to the stock antenna didn't work. There should be a connector designed to fit the stock antenna wire. If there isn't, you might have to make one. Sorry I couldn't help any further.
