G Smooth
I found out that my engine was acting up because i blew a head gasket. =( =( =( The guy at the shop quoted me $1,700 - $2,000. Has anyone had this serviced? Is this a fair price for the repair?? Thanks
TurboGS300
Seems a little high to me, not outrageous, just a bit on the high side. Do it yourself a save a bunch of money.

Do it yourself a save a bunch of money. ← I would like to do it myself but im not the most competent "do it yourselfer" out there. With the help of some friends and some detailed instructions i may be able to but i would need some advice...
TurboGS300
Your best bet would be to start by spending about $100 on the Factory repair manual. This way you'll have an idea of what to do and you can always ask about anything that's not clear. <_<

I got the proper diagrams and detailed instructions for replacing the head gasket. It looks like a nightmare.... even for someone that know how to work on a cars(not me). There are so many steps its rediculous. Unfortunatly i dont think i can talk anyone into helping me with this one. :cries:
G Smooth
I found out it would be about $1700 to have the head gasket replaced. It would be about $2250 to get a JDM engine with about 40,000 miles on it. That seems like the way to go. Or.... what about a 2JZ-GTE engine? it costs more but would that fit?? Is it worth the hassle?
bigfatlexusman
my 93 gs300 has just started overheating yesterday. I went to the toyota tech info site and downloaded the repair manual. so I can run through the normal stuff, thermostat, radiator cap, radiator, water pump, and head gasket if needed. here is what I found hope it helps you. G Smooth
:cries: hmmmmmmmmmm won't let me upload the pdf files for the cylinder head repaclement ← Dont sweat it man. I got the pdf files off that site myself earlier. Thanks anyway though. I looked at the instuctions for repalcing the head gasket and it was f_ing rediculous. I just opted to bite the bullet and get another engine(a JDM with 35K on it) It cost me $2800!!! oh well now i have an engine with 130,000 less miles on it.
