smak330
Just had an oil change at 35,000 miles and the dealer recommended a flush and refill of the power steering fluid (for about $100). Is this normal at this age and mileage? It seems odd since I can't remember ever doing this to any other vehicle that I've ever owned, domestic or import. RX in NC
No, that's not normal. Power steering fluid typically remains cleaner than just about any other fluid under the hood. You were obviously the intended victim of "systemic wallet extraction". Watch out for your dealer insisting that they need to change the air in your tires next.... mikey00
I have never heard of flushing the power steering fluid and it is not listed by Lexus as routine maintenance. It sounds like your service advisor is out to win the Disney trip this year.
Lexusfreak
I have never heard of a PS fluid change at that low mileage interval. I ususlly change my own fluid using a turkey baster personally. I think they are trying to scam you at the dealer personally. B)
