A/c Trouble...diag Code 21

I have a problem with my A/C that others have similiarly had. Air was cold til a hot day then it was just air...til a long trip saturday when it went totally not cool at all! I added freon til it wouldnt take anymore and still nothing...I ran the diagnostic thing by holding the recirc n auto buttons while starting and it gave me a 21 and kept beeping.
