I have not heard anything abou tit being discontinued. It is a TRD item and was never part of the L-Tuned line.

The Tom's has more connect points. If money is not an issue, I'd go with the Tom's especially if you are planning to put on the rest of the Tom's under bracing. The TRD is at more than half the price though so you'd have to weigh that too.
