TurboGS300 Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Thermal barrier from underhood heat is exactly what I was thinking when I said "dissipate" as that's where most of the heat comes from when the car is not moving. It's important to do insude and outside the pipe. This would provide a perfomance benefit, instead of just a cosmetic benefit.

TurboGS300 Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 ^^^^^^OK?!?!?!?!?!? So.... you can quote from a dictionary, maybe that's how you impress most people, you'll have to do more than that to impress me

Weren't you the guy who thought FWD cars don't have differentials?
TurboGS300 Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 ^^^^^^OK?!?!?!?!?!? So.... you can quote from a dictionary, maybe that's how you impress most people, you'll have to do more than that to impress me ← Weren't you the guy who thought FWD cars don't have differentials? ← You should have kept your mouth shut, I was going to let you get away with that one. I can quote from a dictionary as well, it's not a skill that only you possess differential, in the automobile, a set of gears used on the driving (usually rear) axle. The two wheels on the driving axle must be interconnected in order to receive their energy from the same source, the driving shaft; at the same time they must be free to revolve at different speeds when necessary (e.g., when rounding a curve, the outer wheel travels farther and thus must revolve faster than the inner wheel in order to prevent skidding). These two requirements are met by the differential gearing. Furthermore, through it the rotating motion of the driving shaft is transmitted to the axle and the wheels. The axle is in two halves; to each half is attached a wheel at one end and, at the inner end, a gear (see gear). The end of the driving shaft is also equipped with a gear. By an ingenious arrangement of these and other gears, together constituting the differential, a difference in speed of the two wheels is compensated for without a loss of tractive force. A disadvantage of the conventional differential is that when one wheel is on a dry and the other on a slippery surface, the differential causes the wheel on the slippery surface to revolve at double speed while the other wheel remains stationary. This hazard can be avoided by use of a limited slip differential, which feeds power to one wheel when the other wheel starts to slip and thus keeps the automobile moving. Maybe this is what you really meant to say, brainiac When the transmission and the drive axle are combined in one unit, it is called a "transaxle." The transaxle is bolted to the engine and has the advantage of being an extremely rigid unit of engine and driveline components. The complete engine transaxle unit may be located at the front of the vehicle (front wheel drive) or at the rear of the vehicle (rear wheel drive). The power flow through the transmission section of the transaxle is the same as through a conventional transmission.
Matthew_McNally Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 OK guys - knock it off. this is off the topic - and degenerating rapidly.
new big400 Posted June 24, 2005 Author Posted June 24, 2005 For real. You guys know how easy it is to misunderstand someone or miscommunicate on these forums. So What Id like is some knid of coating to keep the engine heat out and not stay hot for hours after shutting the car off.Right now when im running it on a hot day it gets sooo hot you cant touch it .Id like to try to keep some of that heat out.
TurboGS300 Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Contact jet hot as they have several different ceramic coatings. <_< My Injen intake gets very hot as well from underhood temps.
new big400 Posted June 29, 2005 Author Posted June 29, 2005 Thanks turbo, you the man!And I dont care what you guys think I know a differential is part of your cooling system .Btw did you notice the redtop in the pic? Thanks for the help with that.
