Turn key to OFF position. Hold trip odometer button IN. Turn key ON while holding button IN. When indicator on trip odometer goes from dashes to mileage, turn key off. Maint indicator will be reset.

This is correct but I have to add some points.

The trip meter must be on ODO, not Trip A or Trip B.

Plus you are turning the key to ON...do not start the car.
