i pulled down on my sun visor a few days ago heard a click type sound

not the good kind. anyway my sun visor swings back and forth way to freely

in fact it slaps me up side the head when i turn left.

and after a few minutes of being down wants to fall out of the socket

how do you repair this and how do you get the headline out?

thanks 1993 ls

i personally can't really give you direct instructions on how to fix this, as i've never really even looked up there,

but i'm sure you can just take it apart and adjust the gaps of the clamps that hold the metal in place, maybe by using a shim

if there is a plastic part that is broken, you will need to either repace it, or do what i would do and break out the ole JB weld

in short just get up there and take it apart and see what is loose, then go from there.

if you get it taken apart, and can't find a way to fix it, pm me, and i'll take a look at mine, and tell you how you get get her fixed ;)

good luck

I don't think the headliner will need to be removed.

To remove the visor, remove the screw cover by hand. It may require a little manipulation.

Once removed you will then reveal the visor mounting plate with 2 phillips head screws. Remove screws and carefully pull down visor.

The vaniity wires and connector will then be exposed. Disconnect the vanity light connector.

I would use the shim idea mentioned by silvermate or what ever is applicable for the repair of your part.

If that fails...start calling your local junk yards or other salvage resources.

I see this problem more and more on Lexus vehicles , I believe it is a Lexus problem, from a company who praises their engineering expertise so much, I cant understand why that can't make a sun visor that will stays up. Maybe they should consult with the engineers at Yugo or Hyundai-the same year cars don't have this problem. I am writing to Lexus Headquarters -19001 S. Western Ave, Torrance, CA 90509 800-255-3984. I think they should replace them free of charge, a replacement part cost $267.00, not including installation
