My Cd Changer Will Not Play Consistently!

I have a 1998 GS400 Lexus, and the CD Player is intermittent. It plays sometimes and it doesn't. I purchased a Laser Cleaner but it still does the same thing.

CD optical cleaners are a joke. It has be pretty dirty for one of those to work. It's probably on its way out, you might try a professional cleaning as a last resort. <_<

You need an new amp or a rebuilt one from the dealer. I have a 94 gs300 and just had theat done for $325 with labor.

What does an AMP have to do with CD playing intermittently???

There is a tech bulletin out for something similiar. It states that the head unit needs to be replaced (used to be under warranty).

Basically, the CD/Head Unit lock up and the only way to reset it is to turn the ignitian off then on.
