Toyota’s Global Donations Will Exceed $4 Million

Even as we celebrate Toyota surpassing the two million mark in U.S. unit sales, we are deeply saddened by the enormous tragedy that is still unfolding across southern Asia and the east coast of Africa in the wake of the Dec. 26 tsunami.

Reflecting the company’s sincere concern for the plight of people directly affected by this terrible event, Toyota Motor Corporation is donating $3 million to the international relief effort and affiliated companies in Asia are contributing $600,000 more. As one of the world’s largest and most successful companies, Toyota is firmly committed to being a positive force in the auto industry and in people’s lives.

In addition, Southeast Toyota Distributors Inc. is contributing $250,000 and Gulf States Toyota $200,000, and Toyota Motor Sales will match SET’s and GST’s donations.

Nationwide, Toyota, Scion and Lexus dealers are demonstrating their support with independent contributions. Your generosity is in keeping with the highest traditions of the Toyota Way. You honor all of us by your compassion.

Finally, Toyota’s North American affiliates have pledged to match up to $1 million in donations by individual associates and team members made through January 28 to the American Red Cross/International Response Fund and UNICEF.

Altogether, Toyota’s global contributions will exceed $4 million.

I'm not really surprised because these companies are the ones that should donate the most to the tsunami relief because they are the ones that make A LOT of money$$$!!! ;)
