Master Key Or Valet Key

Happy New Years eve all,

Need the forum's expertise assistance on recognizing the master key for a 1998 GS400.

I have a key without the remote which opens the locks, trunk and ignition. It does not fit the glove box.

Was wondering if this is still considered a master key and can interface with the transponder to program other keys.....or is this just the valet key.

Unfortunately it's the only key that is available. I compared all the keys from my RX300 and the difference between the key with remote (which is used for everything) and the remote-less key is the 'cut' on the side, which makes it fit into the glove box keyhole.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Sounds like you have the Valet key.

That will start the car and open the doors, but will not open the glove box or the trunk (I think).

I agree with Tom, its the valet key. Especially if it is a different color.
