kino1161 Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 The clear coat on one of my wheels is peeling. It is only on the lip of the wheel. I have the Enkei AEGIS (3 piece wheel) on my car. The wheel itself is chrome and the lip is polished alloy. Can I fix this problem myself? What can I do? A local shop told me about $100 to fix the clearcoat on just the lip of my wheel. Please help. Any suggestions/recommendations???
Lexusfreak Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 How old are the wheels? & are they exposed to the harsh conditions such as salt from the winter conditions? OEM wheels usually hold up much better in the long run than aftermarket.
silvermate Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 once it starts to peel there is nothing you can do yourself to fix the problem it is like cancer it will will spread and get worse and worse over time, you need to nip it in the butt. 100 bucks is a really good price, do it. and they would be perfect afterwards. its the only solution, unless you want to buy new rims.......
