lexus400 Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Guys, I just read a post on the BMW board about an adjustment nut you can turn to tighten to eliminate play in the steering rack. I did this on my 325 and the results were remarkable. I had slight clunk when moving the wheel side to side and now it's totally eliminated it and took about 5 mins. I think most rack and pinions have this type of adjustment on them. Is this true on the LS ? Anyone done it before ? After rebuilding the frontend on my BMW, I was resigned to replacing the rack this winter so this was a great find for me. Hope I can do the same on my Lexus (obviously the rest of your front end parts need to be good already..) Bob
UCF3 Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 I have my doubts that's possible on the GEN I or II cars, but even if it possible i wouldn't do it. It my inadventently stretch a cable causing it to snap or wear. Let us know if it exists, but I wouldn't do it.
