landolakes Posted November 17, 2004 Share Posted November 17, 2004 For about a week now I have noticed my brakes(rear from the sounds of it) make a grinding noise while I'm backing out of my driveway. Same sound is heard when I almost come to t a complete stop. Now the sound is there while driving, a SHH SHH SHH sound like they pads are slightly touching the rotor. What could be the cause of this? I checked the pads and they all seem OK so it isnt the wear indicator rubbing. Any suggestions or other items I should check out would greatly help. Thanks. TurboGS300 Posted November 17, 2004 Share Posted November 17, 2004 ckeck for warped rotors, emergency brake cable play :P Put the rear of the car up ona jack and spin the tires and see if you can replicate the noise. I don't see how I have warped rotors when I had no problems before, this issue first came after a heavy rain, since then I've been hearing noise. newport Posted November 18, 2004 Share Posted November 18, 2004 I had the same thing on my mk1, it was worn out parking brake shoes metal to metal on the inside of the drum.
