no its not a thermostat problem:) its a cirquit problem and might be as well a sensor problem, but AC has nothing to do with thermostat. thermostat is for the engine:)

The IAT sensor, behind the little "window" above your right knee, is open, the climate control ECU therefore thinks the cabin is COLD and needs to be warmed.

Setting the temperature to max cool or max hot overrides all sensor inputs.
