Scribblefreek
I have trouble taking my 2024 NX 350H through a commercial car wash. At the start of the wash process, I have no trouble shifting from D to N. This is because the car is motionless before being pulled forward by the conveyor. The problem occurs when I come to the end of the car wash. I am unable to move the shifter back into D from N. This is because the car is still being pulled forward (the wheels are still rolling) at that point. The shifter requires you to press the brake pedal before shifting from N to D. But, this is a bad idea. This causes the car’s rear tire to hop over the conveyor plate (the plate pushing the car through the wash). I believe this issue is due to the NX’s computer sensing the car’s in motion and restricts the gear from being changed. Note: I understand that Tesla has a special ‘car wash button’ that prepares the car for entering a car wash. And if I don’t get the car to move away from the end of the line, that big Ford F250 right behind me will surely clear me out of the way. Do you have any suggestions for how I can shift from N to D while the wheels are rolling - and not press the brake - while in a commercial car wash? Mike Black
Ask the car wash but I think you'll find the car behind you will stop before it hits you. Anybody building a car wash that did NOT have that feature would be an idiot as they would be at fault for such obvious lack of safety. I have to check my NX450H+ but perhaps just a light touch on the brakes or holding the button on the control may work?
Scribblefreek
Thanks Mike. Can you be more specific? "or holding the button on the control may work?" My shifter has no button? Also, just joking about the Ford F250.
