Transmission indicator issue (R and D at the same time)

Last Sunday I noticed an issue where the R and D educators light up at the same time regardless of which mode I’m in.

 

Park and neutral, and 123 all work normally.

I can start the car and both park and neutral.

The reverse camera is in operation in both drive and reverse, which was a little disconcerting - I can manually switch to the info screen 

 

I got a 0705 check code.

 

other research suggests maybe NSS failure or possible other ground issue.

 

this all started a week ago.

I ordered a replacement NSS (OEM is like $150 I got Amazon for $25)

problem today is indicators are working normally!

although the fault code still comes in.

has anyone encountered this?
