2024 RX 350h Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Was shocked today as after filling up with gas at Costco our new RX 350h wouldn’t start. Why? Called the dealer and they said likely dead battery. Then I called Roadside Assistance and a tow truck was sent for a boost - 45 minutes later they showed up as we sat next to the gas pump. The rear hatch wouldn’t open because of the dead battery so the tow truck driver charged via the front engine compartment. The boost worked! But I asked myself “Why on a 7 month old vehicle would a new battery be dead”? When home I trickle charged the battery back to full charge. When we bought the car a trickle charger was an extra accessory option but I declined as it was expensive and I thought an overkill! I see now that is provided as Lexus knows they have a problem with the standard car battery not charging sufficiently. Because with the hybrid feature (which we luv!) which we drive to keep in that range the standard battery is not charging as the gas engine/alternator is running to do so. Will be looking for a new replacement battery next service!
RX400h Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Has the dealership checked the alternator? Our RX400h has never had a draining battery issue. Of course, whenever the vehicle is driven, we make sure to drive more than 15 or 20 miles, round-trip.
