Rusty Bucket Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Re: 2009 RX350 liftgate will not open by pressing the liftgate latch release above license plate. Liftgate operates correctly with key and button on dash consul. Above license plate, removed degraded rubber cover from liftgate latch release. Removed microswitch from housing. When I depress the microswitch, I hear what-sounds-like a solenoid clicking (door releasing?), Door moves ¼”, but lift gate does not open. No beeping sound. Is this a switch issue? Thoughts? Thx.
RX400h Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Quote Based on your description, it seems like the microswitch might be functioning correctly if you hear a solenoid clicking when you depress it. The issue might be with the liftgate struts or the power liftgate motor. Here are a few things you could consider: Liftgate Struts: Over time, the gas struts that help lift and hold the liftgate can wear out and may need to be replaced. If the struts are weak, they may not be able to lift the gate or hold it open. Power Liftgate Motor: If the motor that raises and lowers the door is not doing anything, it could be a problem with the power liftgate motor2. You might need to replace the power liftgate motor. Pinch Sensors: If the door is acting up when closing, it might be an issue with the pinch sensors.
